Audit the Fed Alert

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Earlier today, the first shot in our battle to pass Audit the Fed through the U.S. Senate was fired on the Senate floor by Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina.

Senator DeMint, who has a well-deserved reputation for taking the battle to the other side in the Senate, once again proved why he is such a valuable ally in our fight to bring transparency and accountability to the Federal Reserve.

A little while ago, the Senate voted to pass HR 2918, the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act. This $3 billion bill contains, among many other things, provisions for GAO audits on certain agencies.

Seizing on a chance to take quick action to bring Audit the Fed up for a vote, and with the GAO provisions in mind, Senator DeMint attached the full text of S 604, the Senate version of Ron Paul's Audit the Fed bill, to HR 2918 as Senate Amendment 1367 before it was considered for final passage.

However, Senate Democrats refused to even allow a vote on the amendment! That's right. The internationalist, Fed-loving elite in the Senate used a parliamentary tactic to shut down DeMint's amendment.

After Senator DeMint brought Audit the Fed to the floor, Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska raised a "point of order" to prevent a vote, claiming that the amendment violated Senate Rule 16 by "legislating" on an appropriations bill. The Senate president agreed, and the amendment was shot down.

Senator DeMint did not back down, though, and directly challenged Senate leadership by pointing out the other GAO audits contained in the bill. As Senator DeMint listed them off, the Senate president was forced to agree with Senator DeMint that each one he described, all of which would be left in for final passage, also violated Senate Rule 16.

Which tells us at least one thing: the problem wasn't with "legislating" on the bill or violating Senate Rules (which is commonly done). Shooting down the amendment was about preventing a thorough audit of the Federal Reserve for the first time in its history!

Senate leadership is hoping this issue will just fade away so they can get on to what they deem to be more "important" business, like dictating what kind of healthcare plan you and I can carry or passing destructive Cap-and-Tax legislation.

But the American people deserve answers on what the Fed has done with trillions of our tax dollars and what they are committing us and future generations to as part of their secret deals with foreign central banks and governments.

The leadership decided today to turn their backs on transparency, but our fight is just beginning.

As Senator DeMint made clear on the floor, the Audit the Fed bill has wide bipartisan support. He rightly warned the Senate that even if they delay today, they WILL have to deal with the issue on the floor.

It is up to you and me to back up Senator DeMint's words by making sure the momentum continues to build and the bill comes up for a final vote.

The rejection of the Audit amendment is just the first battle in our war. Now is the time to really put the pressure on the U.S. Senate to Audit the Fed!

Senator DeMint fired the opening salvo and showcased the hypocrisy of the Senate for allowing other GAO audits to be included in the bill while refusing to even allow a vote on Fed transparency.

Again, we're just getting started. Senator DeMint will keep fighting to pass Audit the Fed on its own or as an amendment, and we need to continue putting pressure on our senators to do everything in their power to achieve a floor vote!

This is now the law, and a close copy of Hitler’s “Useless Eater Program” that denied care to those unable to contribute. To further prove their intent, the Fascists have just announced that they will take a substantial part of the funds for their new Universal Health Care program from Medicare and Medicaid funding which would further reduce payments to our medical providers. Of course the traitors would also increase our taxes.

America 101

Having survived a tour of duty in Vietnam and being exposed to a culture with very different standards of living helps me to appreciate just how fortunate I am to be part of the greatest country on the face of the earth.

Our founding fathers would likely be shamefully embarrassed to witness the kind of dictation we receive from government today. So, how do We the People begin to rid ourselves of this shame? A good start would be to elect public servants who place their allegiance to the Constitution higher than to party politics or self. We have allowed ourselves to be far too complacent for nearly two centuries and so it is unreasonable to think we will correct this overnight. However, when we consider the options, it leaves little doubt that We the People need to put forth an effort to return to a Constitutional form of government! Replace the corrupt ones! Replace the greedy ones! Replace the deceptive ones!

In the first version of his videotape, America's Godly Heritage, David Barton makes reference to two University of Houston researchers who studied the most frequently cited authors in the writings of the founding fathers. According to Barton, these researchers concluded that 94% of all the citations found in these writings were either to the Bible, or to authors who based their conclusions on the Bible. This, he concludes, demonstrates the profound influence of the Bible on the Constitution.

Inspite of the issues we face, America is still the best country on the face of the earth.

In that I am a retired Vietnam veteran, the following quote is from the National Veterans Coalition website.

Common People

An “attack” did take place on American soil on September 11, 2001. This should allow for some skepticism of "our leaders”!!

Perpetual Debt

Death of America

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning our 2008 Presidential election:

* Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29
* Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000
* Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million
* Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Republicans won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase..

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million invaders called "illegals", and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years. If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message.
If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

Transparency

Transparency.

We are actually seeing a legitimate attempt at transparency taking place at the Federal level. Not from the administration that made transparency a reason to vote, but rather from a little old Congressman from Texas by the name of Ron Paul. Congressman Paul introduced transparency legislation to Congress on February 26, 2009 as HR1207 that asks for an Audit of the Federal Reserve. This legislation would allow the American public transparency to see what the Federal Reserve is doing with the money that is collected from the taxpayers in this country. In that each taxpayer is audited by the IRS on a yearly basis, a member of Congress has to search far and wide for a legitimate reason not to support legislation to audit the Federal Reserve.

This legislation is enjoying tremendous non-partisan support. It takes about 5 minutes to read the bill, it has no amendments, it is written in very simple language! As of June 22, 2009 this legislation now enjoys a majority in the House of Representatives with 237 co-sponsors and will likely continue to get more. All but three members of congress from Minnesota: Keith Ellison the 5th District, Betty McCollum the 4th District and James Oberstar the 8th District have not supported this legislation to date. It is expected that this legislation will proceed to the House floor and get voted on by the end of July. Once this legislation has passed in the House of Representatives, it moves onto the Senate and we can see how many Senators will endorse transparency.

We do have a system that will respond if we wake up enough people, but that’s the tough job, but they will respond when they hear from the people. Much credit needs to be directed to the grass roots effort to call, email and send letters to members of Congress to wake them up. We need to now focus on the Senate version S 604, and start waking up the Senators to the people's version of Transparency

State Sovereignty

Fellow Patriots,

Are you fed up with the out of control Federal Government spending and dictating to the states? In the version of the sovereignty bill being considered in Washington state, they appeal to the authority of James Madison who wrote:

“The powers delegated to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the state governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, [such] as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce. The powers reserved to the several states will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people.”

It is time for real Americans to make themselves heard and support regaining our State Sovereignty!
